Course Description: Rescue Systems 1 is a 40 hour CA State Fire Training certified course taught in a 5 day format. The course provides training for responders in team organization, environmental considerations, use of rope, knots, rigging and pulley systems, descending, rappelling and belaying tools and techniques, subsurface rescue techniques, use of shoring systems, cribbing, cutting/prying and hydraulic tools, use of fire service ladder in specialized rescue situations and simulated rescue exercises.
Prerequisites: LARRO (certificate MUST be brought to first day of class)
Manual: Students ARE required to download a copy of the State Fire Training Rescue Systems 1 manual from the SFT website: www.osfm.fire.ca.gov. Type Rescue Systems 1 in the search box and this will take you to the page so you can download the manual. Students may download either paper or preferably electronically produced manuals. All students MUST have a copy of the manual the first day of class.
Required PPE: Helmet, Gloves, Steel Toe Boots, Eye/Ear Protection, Pants and Long Sleeve Shirt, Sun Block
